Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate how many tiles I need?
Measure the area (length × width), divide by the area of one tile, then add 10–15% for waste and cuts. For a 100 sq ft area with 12×12 tiles: 100 ÷ 1 = 100 tiles, order 115 with waste.
How many tiles come in a box?
It varies by tile size. Common: 12×12 tiles come 10 per box (10 sq ft), 18×18 tiles come 5 per box (11.25 sq ft), 24×24 tiles come 4 per box (16 sq ft). Check the box label.
How much extra tile should I buy?
Add 10% for standard layouts and 15% for diagonal patterns. Extra tiles are also useful for future repairs, so don't return leftovers.
How much grout do I need?
Grout needed depends on tile size, joint width, and depth. As a rough guide, a 10lb bag of grout covers 100-150 sq ft with 1/4 inch joints. Always buy extra.
